SQ lounge in MEL has taken a turn for the worse with indifferent wait staff, tables still not cleared after3/4 of an hour to a dictatorial lounge manager scolding me like a schoolchild! I made the error of moving one of the side tables in front of my 5 year old so he could each his lunch rather than wear it. When the lounge attendant noticed he exclaimed " who has moved this, it's dangerous and wired in" when I pointed out it was me yet more aggression ensued until I pointed out that if he wanted the table left alone it should be marked on top. Later I noticed some of the tables elsewhere in the lounge were so marked.

So much for gracious Singaporean hospitality!

This is not singaporean hospitality but instead the typical australian customer service since SQ contract out to local staff

Maybe the manager shouldn't have been so aggressive, but you should have informed the staff before moving things. If it was wired like he mentioned, it could have presented a safety risk.

If it was dangerous to move it should have been marked as such like the other tables. Not the OP's fault at all.

It doesn't take a massive amount of brain space to realise that something hard wired probably shouldn't be moved?

CORRECT - And therefore should be permanently fixed to the floor.

Either that or just apply common sense

I'm more shocked that a 5 year old is allowed into a premium lounge than  the mess an adult can make with wiring and tables. But that's another issue altogether.

There are few bad kids, plenty of bad parents. Unfortunately some bad parents have lounge access.

Moving wired in tables sounds like asking for trouble. Tables not cleared after 3/4 hour is just slack. There would be faster turn around cleaning tables out at the food offerings in the airport proper. I've never had this issue at Emirates Melbourne or Sydney lounges, stuff is cleared away pronto, always by obliging staff who are almost hovering around just to be attentive.

Maybe he was strictly adhering to the floor planogram.

Doesn't surprise me. I had bad experience with Singapore airlines staff in Singapore.
