Are the dramas around the 787 outside the scope of this forum? I'm just wondering why there has not been much reporting here. This is not an attack or criticism - merely a question.

There's not much to report yet, other than ANA & JAL have grounded their 787 fleets and that dreamliners have battery issues.

However there's plenty of coverage over on Plane Talking including analysis of how this affects Jetstar/Qantas, albeit in a typically cynical tone.

i'm sure there will be more 'focus' on the 787 once JETSTAR start to take delivery...and here's hoping the 787s 'kinks' will be ironed out by then!! .. i'll always maintain that being amongst the first to receive a totally new aircraft type may help bring prestige to that airline......but on the flip side can also damage that airlines reputation when 'issues' occur..let's hope things get sorted ASAP

As AusBT is not a hardcore aviation site we declined to jump on the 787 story along with everybody else - there's plenty of coverage online as the story breaks and develops, with plenty of detail and back-story for those who want that. Our preference is to value-add and provide relevance, and on that basis we have a story near-ready but are awaiting imminent statements from Qantas and Qatar.

Yes, I agree, I would prefer to see one good article on AusBT which tells me what I need to know, like this one does, than breathless reporting on every 787 'issue'. There's more than enough of that out there now and it's also nice to see that AusBT doesn't press the panic button on the 787 and jump onto the bandwagon.
