I've noticed that in a few day's time, the timing for QF97 changes to an earlier departure from BNE (and earlier arrival into HKG). Any reason for this? (Just asking out of interest, we're booked on Monday 06 Nov with the 'earlier' timings which suit us nicely!).
Secondly, we're travelling in Economy on a "Sale" fare. Will we get an email asking if we want to "opt in" for a points/cash upgrade to J Class?
Could be due to Europe's end of Daylight saving. Which is this Sunday Oct 29. Why does it have an effect on a BNE-HKG flight? Maybe as code share or partner airline, it's to adjust to the new departure timing of flights out of HKG to Europe.

If it's the cheapest fare, it won't allow you to do an upgrade, I believe.

Must be this, as the time change starts today.

That makes sense - but if Queensland and Hong Kong don’t have daylight savings, then why?
