They would often try to put you through AA but at times, they will connect you with other airlines like UA. It has happened to me when booking to LAX then onwards to Mexico (UA or Aeromexico flights with a non QF flight-number). It wouldn't affect you much if the booking is all under one reservation.

On QF website: Trying to book BNE-MCO (Orlando), surprisingly QF connects with equal number of UA flights (as much as AA). Is this normal?
