So I'm flying business as a velocity gold member in January between Brisbane and Adelaide and at one end I have a connection with REX but the other end a Qantaslink regional flight. Will I be able to access the VA lounge on arrival? With access as a business passenger and gold member?

Short answer, yes. Straight from the VA website: "Subject to space availability, Velocity Gold members may also access the Virgin Australia Lounge on arrival with an eligible day of travel Virgin Australia or partner airline itinerary or boarding pass."
Did a similar itinerary to you a few weeks ago and my VA boarding pass from that day let me in at self-service entry on arrival.
Yes I'm travelling between Adelaide and Brisbane in business for both directions (paid for, not an upgrade or award). But connections after landing in Adelaide is with REX and connection after landing in Brisbane is a Qantaslink dash-8 flight.
If you are velocity gold you get access to virgin lounge after your flight as well as before. This is regardless of which cabin youre flying in and regardless of any onward flight that day.
My wife has used this several times in the last few months when travelling with the baby who needs a nappy change/feed after landing.
What do you do with your checked baggage when you take advantage of this? I assume you cannot get your checked baggage back into the security-controlled area, so do you just leave it going around on the carousel for an extra half an hour? Thanks.
Yep we have just left it but never been in lounge more than about 20mins after arriving. You could ask the lounge desk staff about this if you plan to stay in lounge for a longer time in between flights.
