A few weeks ago I posted about the first
commercial flight on the new Qantas Dreamliner and asked for comments from
people who had flown on it. I was fortunate enough to fly on the aircraft
today. I booked a work trip from Sydney to Melbourne last week on QF 431 and was pleasantly surprised it
was the Dreamliner. After I booked I was able to access the premium economy
seating due to my platinum status and chose seat 22K. I boarded the aircraft
and went to my seat which had a sign saying not for passenger use. I asked the
flight attendant and was subsequently met by the CSM who said it was my lucky
day and I was upgraded to seat 4F in business. Albeit a short flight regardless
it was a great experience. Seats were great and Qantas really need to get a
hurry on to have the A380s fitted out with the new business class seats. The
entertainment is not as good as the choice on Emirates. Crew were fantastic and
after speaking to them they are all long haul crew who fly the A380 and are now
also going to fly on the Dreamliner. The aircraft is a good size with cabins
across all 3 classes well spaced out. I would love to do the non stop from
Perth to London in business or premium economy. The premium economy seats with
a window and aisle look the best choices. Would like to test the premium
economy seat out one day. All in all a great day and this aircraft will be a
new phase of travel with Qantas.
Was lucky enough to travel on it last weekend. Chose the Premium economy seat - 22A. Was a very good experience but I do agree with the earlier AusBT review in that for anyone over 6ft the legroom did become an issue when the seats were reclined. Don't get me wrong - its an excellent seat for Premium Economy - but it would need an extra inch or so of legroom before I would seriously consider it for a long haul journey. Great Qantas service on the trip though. They made it a memorable experience. I wish every flight was like that.
