New to this forum, so hello everyone. Just thought I'd share a screengrab of the account status that greeted me on return from the USA. Not complaining - it is what it is, but wondered if anyone else has come this close at review date? (It shows 999 status credits earned at review date in case you can't open/access the attachment - wasn't sure if the attachment thing works with this forum.)

So you didn't do enough flying to retain platinum, how is that 'agony'?
Did you get platinum? Often they will give it you if you are that close
Sadly no. Just had the normal annual review confirmation today of Gold status. It would have been a classy bit of pr that would have earned them considerable loyalty had they offered it, but I didn't really feel comfortable asking for it. After all, 999 points isn't 1000. Do they really do this often? Has anyone else had experience of this, and if successful, how did you go about it?

You should definitely give them a call and ask them (nicely) to bump you to Plat. Usually they have 'margin of error' leniency and I think in your case, it is more than likely that they will give you Plat. There's nothing wrong with asking for some consideration (in your case a very reasonable one) and you shouldn't feel uncomfortable about it at all. You're hardly the only one out there in a similar situation and VA would have had the same requests put in front of them thousands of times. Good Luck!
I was bumped up from silver to gold with only 495 status credits in August this year. I didn't even ask. You should definitely contact velocity - maybe just via facebook message.

I can't see the attachment, but is it even possible to earn 999 status credits? I've never seen a flight with an odd number of SCs.

I have had odd numbers quite a few times due to 50% or 25% status bonus promotions.

Don't forget Flybuys which is earned in 1 SC increments. I always have odd SC values.

How long have you got until the Status Credits start falling away?
Assessment to go up a level (in this case platinum) is a separate thing to being reviewed at gold.
Going up to Platinum is based on a 12 month rolling total....

Dropped back about 100 points now so decided to leave it. Will get there in March with J flights to EU coming up.
