Hi all,

May I ask is there any way that I can book a mixed cabin classes on different legs on the same ticket when travelling on Qantas International services ?
I have attempted to book Economy on QF 128 and Premium Economy on QF 117 return, but it doesn't work on Qantas website.
I feel disappointed as many other airlines allows mixed class booking which helps customers to save money and pay for the service they need. I want to do this because I don't need to fly Premium on a day flight but I need to sleep well on a red eye service.
If Qantas cannot provide this function then I might have well catch other airlines.

Yes, you can - but not on the website. You'll need to do this by phone call.

Or via a travel agent.

Out of interest is anyone able to shed any light on if the tickets for a mixed class fare on QF are priced at the return or the one-way rate?

I was able to do it once before via QF website PE SYD-LAX then J LAX-SYD.

Concur with the OP, would good to understand. Day flight PE (or even Y) is perfectly fine for me since I would be doing some work anyway. Night flight, I would be happy to pay more to get a good sleep.

I think you can do it on the website, you select both legs as economy and then when you go to the next screen it has an upgrade to the next cabin class. Choose the leg you want to upgrade and it will give you a price. I did it over the weekend for a flight to Bangkok where I booked the return in J

Interesting, tried a few dummy bookings (without logging in to my QFF First) to see what happens and the upgrade option only seemed to come up selectively, so that option/offer may be load based.

It has always been possible by phoning the call centre ($60), however, finally, they have finally added that as an option on the webpage. Book in economy and then when you have selected flights, you are then given an option to upgrade on each leg of your booking. Equally, book in PE and then again, after your have selected flights, if there are vacancies, you receive an option to upgrade each leg to Business.

Obviously it will only work if there is a vacancy.

For years, no matter what the survey I have received from Qantas, I have consistently put in a request for this option. Equally, when the option became a reality several months ago, I sent them a congratulatory message!

I have tried separate bookings. One way economy and business return. It asked for Thai baht on return. Frustrating. Only way was to phone and they charge you points.

I just called the Qantas contact centre to do this, they told me it's not possible. Waited 45 minutes to speak to an operator too.... complete waste of time.
