My upcoming flight on an ANZ 787 has been changed to the HI FLY A340. Just wondering if anyone else has flown this and what to expect in terms of seat back entertainment (should I load some of my own movies on to my tablet)?
The aircraft NZ are using (9H-FOX) is an ex-EK A340-300 with seatback entertainment in all classes.
I have read elsewhere of people being contacted by ANZ beforehand to advise that the seatback entertainment won't be switched on and to prepare something else like a tablet.
I flew on Hifly A340 to Akl from Syd on 11th Jan and was booked on the flight in the afternoon due to come in using Hifly A340 as well I changed to B738 as I found that the cabin crew spoke very loudly in the galley the whole flight, luckily they had B787 staff on board as ambassadors who provided me drinks when required. Its an ex EK aircraft and if flying in J you will be in what was EK P Cabin. The meals were served with plastic cutlery only, no roll offerend and dessert was a prepackaged option only. Call VA or NZ and request to be moved to a B772 or 773 aircraft instead.

Hifly has several A340s and no two look alike. You can find them on http://www.hifly.aero/en/a340/9h-tqm.html. Honestly, I would plan for the table option.

There is no entertainment and is pretty basic on board. Bring your own tablet with movies.
Enjoy the flight - hopefully RR can fix up the engine issue and the 787's can fly again.

Summary of hifly A340 fleets:
CS-TQY/TQZ and 9H-JAI/FOX: ex-Emirates A340-300, 2-2-2 flat F, 2-3-2 recliner J which is similiar to some Virgin A330s before retrofit.
CS-TFX/TFW: ex-Kingfisher A340-500, 2-2-2 fully flat J and an onboard bar.
9H-TQM: ex-Lufthansa A340-300, 2-2-2 angled J.
9H-SUN: ex-SriLankan A340-300, 2-2-2 fully flat J which is same as their A330-200 that currently flies to MEL.
Economy across all hifly A340s: 2-4-2.
IFE is installed on all of them but might be turned off.
Neither premium economy nor Skycouch are available on those flights.
Some forms of compensation should be available.

Reading the link above, the plane has seatback screens but HiFly doesn't buy content to show, so the system is not turned on
