Hi, I'm trying to look at a business reward seat one way from Singapore to Melbourne via both the Virgin Australia and Velocity webistes. In both cases, when trying to pick a departure city, there are many asian cities to pick from but Singapore is not one of them. The site specifically says SQ reward seats can be booked via this method. Does anyone know why this is? Do Velocity not allow redemptions originating in Singapore?

Yes I had checked that. But now I have seen when the destinations window opens, there is a list of destinations, but up in the top right is now a checkbox asking "Include Other Velocity Reward Destinations". For some reason, by default, they only show destinations served by some partner airlines not another. I'm not sure why you'd only want to search from a limited number of destinations, or why major shareholder and airline partner SQ wouldn't be on the limited list displayed, but anyway it's solved. Thanks for your replies.

Not all destinations serviced by VA's partner is accessible. I tried to book an award flight on EY to Washington DC and it was not possible. The phone agent couldn't tell me why but said despite EY flies to D.C. it's not available to VA. He suggested JFK instead. It's annoying that there is not a table stating which route is available so you can only try your luck when you call.
I can confirm that you CAN book an SQ metal flight out of Singapore to Australia on velocity points, as I booked it SIN to BNE on SQ245 today. The layout of the velocity site is sometimes confusing. Are you looking for Singapore (the city) under Singapore (the country) first?

If you're having trouble online, just give Velocity a call - they won't charge you a fee to book reward flights that can't be booked online.

In practice they say that but when calling they've always wanted to charge a fee even as Gold and even when it's not possible to do it online.
