Hello! Has anyone heard of American Airlines restricting toilet access on their Boeing 787-9 service from Sydney to Los Angeles for Business Class passengers? I had a client/friend travel in Business Class on AA72 last week and she was scolded by the crew and told she could not use the toilet at the front of the cabin as this was reserved for the flight crew. She was told they could only use the Toilets at the back of the Business Class cabin that are shared with Premium Economy. Could this be a new policy or maybe a policy of the crew on that flight? Not a great policy if you are restricting a combined Business/Premium Economy cabins of 51 seats to 2 toilets.
Have no idea whether it is AA policy or just that that crew made it so. WHY do people fly on American owned airlines? THEY ARE HORRIBLE. Passengers have so many choices flying to Asia and Down Under use them

In this case the airfare was really good and the seats are better than what you get on a QF A380 at present and she wasn't driven by Status Credits. She thought everything else about the flight was good though and loved the seats.....just thought the toilet situation was unusual.

An overly simplistic diatribe here in my view. I agree that the American carriers are, with few exceptions, very poor in a number of ways. I think this changing a bit with some of the new aircraft that are being brought online.
The fact that they are "American owned" is neither here nor there. If it is the American carriers you disagree with, then simply say so. To refer to their ownership suggests that there is something wrong with them being owned by American interests. Such a suggestion is absurd.
There are, however, many reasons why someone who chose to fly with an American carrier. It may, for instance, be a loyalty/status consideration. Other people may be compelled to do so as a consequence of business travel policies.
There aren't, however, "so many choices" flying between the US and Australia. If you wish to avoid a stopover in Canada, Asia or NZ, then really it comes down to QF, VA or the US carriers. Equally, there are many sound reasons to avoid VA.
Have flown several times on AA between LA and Auckland on their 787-8 and 787-9. Never heard this one but yes, their cabin crew do vary in how they run things.
The bigger issue with the front loo is generally that the crew work area is between it and passengers. Not such a big deal for port side passengers, more so for the starboard side.
Recent circle Asia trip from Dallas took in Beijing, Hong Kong, Sydney and back to LA, business class with QF over $15k, similar routing via AA/CX just under $8k. AA 777 service and 787 service actually is quite good, not as good overall as QF but certainly better than Delta and never fly United so cant compare. Domestically US carriers have a long way to go, but internationally I think they have lifted their game on certain routes where they have brought new aircraft and service online
