Planning well ahead for a family (2 adults, 2 kids) trip to USA in Jan. I am plat and have looked up I get access to the Emirates Lounge in LAX. However also notice I can only get in 1 guest (with children counting as a guest) - which makes my access redundant as will not go in without all 4 of us. Additionally we will be leaving from Perth - so will have this issue each way with the stop over in Melb/Syd/Bris (which ever it ends up being). So my hopeful question is are there any ways around this at all (for both the Aus stop overs and departing US)? Or any other ideas/thoughts/creativity on offer?
if qantas, then you get to take 1 adult guest and 2 under 18 children quests in to the QF first and business lounges, both domestically and internationally.
If you're an EK platinum then you'll get one guest so if you're flying with qantas from perth to LA and want whole family access, id just buy you're wife a qantas club member ship and then she can guest a kid and you can do the same

Not sure that’s good advice.. lounge access is great but it’s not worth a few hundred smackaroos for what will effectively be a one-off occasion.
To clear up any confusion, since March 2017, Velocity Platinum members have had access to the Emirates (EK) Lounge at LAX. Business class passengers without status are instead sent to the Etihad (EY) Lounge.
More recently, Velocity Gold members have also been granted access to the Emirates Lounge at LAX, too.
Virgin do use the Emirates lounge at LAX for all but VA6 I’m guessing because it’s earlier than the other flights and Emirates want to close the lounge. Haven’t used this one yet as the LAX lounges virgin use keep changing but it keeps it fresh never use the same lounge twice if your only there once a year like myself.
As for your lounge issue you could use the family pooling to pool your children’s status credits from their flights to your wife or even your own flights between now and then after you re-quality so your wife had velocity gold and you could each bring one child as your guest because you would both have lounge access in your own right. Virgin allow multiple children to pool there status to one family member although she would still have to complete the required number of flights so that could get a bit complex.
Another option are the AMEX lounges in Sydney and I believe the Melbourne one should be open by then. At the Sydney lounge they don’t seem to count children my Velocity Platinum AMEX comes with two adult entry’s but in the terms and conditions children can accompany the card member.
If you plan to use the Delta Sky Clubs in the US the issue will be the same.
Does anyone happen to know if there are any pay-to-access lounges at TBIT. Im in the same position. Flying Premium as a Velocity Platinum member however I'm flying with 3 adults who don't have status.
