Hey all, silly question but just wanted clarification.
Mum bought an emirates business class flight from HKG-DXB-LIS return (and she didn't consult me regarding airline choices).
She's has frequent flyer scheme with Qantas (bronze) and Thai airways. What would you do in this situation? Is there anyway that her Emirates status can be credited to another airline scheme? The emirate flights are operated and marked emirates.
She can earn Qantas Points by attaching her Qantas number to the booking: she just won't earn status credits.
(She'd only earn status on those flights, assuming an EK flight number, by joining Skywards - but there may not be much point if she doesn't fly with them often.)

With that flight, she will become Silver with Emirates. Not worth it right? She predominantly flies Qantas to and from Sydney-HKG
There are a couple of useful perks of Skywards Silver when flying with Qantas (sometimes, priority check-in and an increased baggage allowance), plus of course lounge access when flying with Emirates in Dubai only and things like priority boarding, but to enjoy those benefits her Skywards number would have to be attached to future bookings (such as Qantas Sydney-HKG) which would mean missing out on earning Qantas Points instead in the future.

Very useful. Thanks Chris. I think she might be 'better off' just earning Qantas points.

No. Nothing you can do unless you can cancel and re-book.
