I was on the phone to American Express this morning and they informed me that American Express will open their own lounge in Brisbane in the next 6-12 months. Has anyone else heard this? I wonder if it will be in the footprint of the old Air NZ space.
Makes sense, given that SYD has had one for a couple of years and MEL now also. And yes, the old NZ space is the obvious place (I'm still surprised QF didn't take that as well, to create a three-level lounge!)
I must say that is excellent news for BNE-based travellers like me. It is good to see American Express, once again, responding to the demands of its customers. I am little surprised that the demand at BNE justifies it, but I am certainly not going to complain.

Yes a 3 level lounge would have been unique and will be needed more and more as QF grow services out of BNE. The existing lounge can get busy in the morning peak already. A missed opportunity I think.

He also mentioned Perth will follow after Brisbane but had no information on time frames for this.

QF have never been that switched on. They are a follower, certainly not a leader.
