Hi there, Just read my PDS for my recent TI purchase and find that they only cover Rental Car Excess for rental agreements less than 15 days - which is useless to me as I have a 23 day UK Rental :-( Any recommendations?

There is a company called Rental Cover that has a product that reduces excess to $0. It is usually pretty cheap compared to the rental car excess, and pretty comprehensive from memory.

You may be able to cancel the policy under a cooling-off period and replace it with one that better suits your needs.

I found in some instances in the UK its cheaper to rent for 2 x 14 day periods rather than 28 days. Recent example AUD 484 vs AUD 684. This only works however if you can return it to the same place after 14 days. Alternatively some credit cards have generous car rental insurance policies eg AMEX platinum which covers damage up to $125k !!!

I had the same insurer. The best of a bad bunch. I cancelled the previous two travel policies I took out for a safari trip to South Africa after reading their policy wordings. But stuck with this one as I was only a named driver on my brother's rental and only in S.A. for 15 days, and got them to acknowledge by way of email. My brother's rental was actually for 16 days but I was only a driver on it for 14 days so technically in breach of the wording, but the insurance ombudsman would have ruled I think in my favour.
