I have had the good fortune to fly F regularly with both Qantas and Emirates. I prefer Emirates as I feel its a better product even in the 777 but when I fly to the US I have to fly Qantas. In my experience Qantas F is often close to capacity and 1/3 of of flyers would be Qantas staff. On a recent flight from LAX a staff member had her husband and < 6 month old baby in first...cried a significant part of the way
Flown F on EK on both 777 Service SIN/MEL QF Ticket and A380 DXB/SYD EK Ticket - Both times upgraded by the airline. Great service, and A380 a true stand out - The SIN/MEL flight is just not long enough for a F Class ticket was my only issue
This will be my first flight with Emirates. I usually fly Etihad but they have become 'penny pinches' and unless they change their attitude I will no longer fly with them.
I'm flying DXB-Madrid next month in F, using QFF points. I have a seven hour layover in DXB from midnight after flying (in Business) from Sydney. Does anyone know if there are sleeping facilities in the DXB lounge (ideally with a wake-up call!)? Any suggestions on best way to spend that period?
If you are on a codeshare with Emirates Dubai connect well worth it
I fly MEL to DXB, ADD and EBB regularly, always with EK. I purchase an F ticket both ways most of the time, but occasionally book F one way and J the other, then upgrade the J leg with miles.
Emirates has an enormous global network and has ready access to high net worth customers globally who are willing and able to purchase first class and choose Emirates for that.

Depends if you are platinum and can go to First lounge. If you are in DXB for 6 hours or more they should offer you Dubai Connect - ie a hotel either at the airport hotel or outside the airport. The other option is to stay in the 'sanctuary' a place to have a good sleep, take time to eat in the lounge ( depends what status you have - if you have Platinum take advantage of the Timeless spa - free massage etc' go for the shoe shine and have a shower! Great way to use the 6 hours if not going to the hotel!
Now theres a true First Class product. Qantas should be ashamed generally for their pseudo 'first' - business plus product.
Given Rufus1 report above that EK F was almost empty and QF F was full it looks like passengers are voting with their feet (or bums) the opposite to your comment.
Yesterday we returned from Christchurch to Sydney in F, purchased as a QF ticket so we got 240 SC round trip. Great food, wine and champagne and we <HAD> to have a shower too! Service was clunky, things forgotten, never used our names. But the best F we've been in.

I have always been served Dom Perignon in the air and on the ground at some ports; but Moet is served before departure on the ground in MEL.
