Come on. He's a geniune guy now? The 787 Qantas launch has been the best-orchestrated marketing stunt the Australian industry has ever seen. He had to be there to take the cuedos. How many million $$ does he get paid to lock workers out and manipulate accounts? Some people need a degree of perspective. He's not a big person - not hard to survive the trip in a business seat if you don't have wide shoulders or long legs.

Thank god someone had the backbone to give the go ahead for the lockout or they would be heading towards the same position holden was, militant unions holding a gun to their head meanwhile unskilled factory workers earning $90-100K, completely unsustainable anywhere especially Australia.

I reckon PER to LHR will be a financial failure, but we'll only know that in a couple of years.

I don’t agree traveller. I think it will be a success until direct SYD is launched. Then it may be different. Most airlines are launching direct point to point, extending the range, and they are being supported by passengers.

too early to say anything.i think for say perth and adelaide people the latter who have had for the last few years been forced onto an asian carrier or the likes of emirates or qatar to London if they wanted a one stop option it will do well.

By the time the Non stop LHR flights come also Perth will be serving Paris and Frankfurt et al, and as 60% of the load come from Perth and then add Canberra and Adelaide to the mix LHR will work as well as the others. I checked a QF booking Canberra to Madrid in December and the return journey (via LHR and Perth) had a $500 markup compared to the via Dubai and Syd on QF coded EK. This might suggest they are filling the plane okay.
