Hi all first post. Got a honeymoon to plan for in 12 months and thinking maybe Maldives in April, May 2019. I know i can't even search for these yet as its too far out, but just mucking around doing dummy bookings, it seems the ADL- DOHA, ADL-DUBAI routes are quite restrictive on classic rewards bookings for business class. Anyone know why, or do they release these closer to the date if they don't sell? My other thought was maybe flying Emirates code shared with QF to dubai waiting for a double status promo, and get close to 400 status creds each? However the cash tix are close to $10k return which seems insane at the moment.
The other thought was other oneworld partners like ade hkg hkg to male?
I have done HKG to MLE from Melbourne with CX. Can require an overnight in HKG depending on what time your flight arrives. Have you looked at Sri Lankan airlines? Routing would be ADL-MEL-CMB-MLE (QF from ADL to MEL)

Glanced at Sri Lankan airlines; but just for the reason that theres an extra connection, thought we'd rule it out. HKG overnight wouldnt be too bad. Any ideas why on the classic rewards bookings website, its not offering me a ADL ➡ HKG ➡ MLE option?
If you are looking at Qantas double status credits, these promotions only apply to Qantas operated aircraft. Unfortunately codeshare with Emirates, even with a QF flight number doesn’t qualify for double status credits.

That depends on the T&C's of the promotion. Not all DSC promotions exclude QF codeshares on EK.
The CX option via HKG with a stopover is a good option, it is a much longer routing though but sometimes the Premium fares are great value to MLE. Where are you looking at staying in the Maldives?

You are looking at an award redemption, you need to have some flexibility with what routings you may have to take.

If you’re considering buying tickets instead of rewards have you considered SQ? J with them and family pooling would just about give you Va platinum.
