Does United offer complimentary United Plus Seats for SQ Star Gold flyers if it’s a “YES” at what point is it available?

Short Answer : Officially No

Long Answer :

Officially, Economy plus seats can be obtained in one of three ways.
- Obviously paying one off
- Holding a United Economy Plus subscription which provides one year of Unlimited Economy plus seats current costs for a Global Subscription ranges from US$699 to US$1099 depending on how many additional people you add
- United Status, Platinum, and Gold get access at the time of booking and Silver gets access at check-in.

This question actually comes up a lot in FlyerTalk and if you do a google search you'll find some of the results people have had success with Star Gold status by asking nicely at the gate but obviously by this time every United flyer and their Peacock has been given an Economy Plus seat and they'll probably be none left.

Other unofficial suggestions (from the internet) include don't assign yourself a seat (and hope the computer randomly assigns you an Economy plus seat) or try with your Star Gold status at Online check-in (as sometimes the computer confuses Star Gold and UA status).
