If you drop back to SG you could book BNE-SYD-LHR-SYD-BNE in Business Class under a Double Status Credits Promo (you do have to keep a look out for these as you never know when the next one will come) and get 640 X 2 + 50 (if you take the loyalty bonus as 50SC) = 1330 SC just 70 SC short of levelling back up to Platinum. That could well be a lot better value than trying to retain Platinum this time.

Book a First class and then Business class flight return in Asia and you will be fine. Only cost you around $10k

you should do 34 return trips BNE-SYD in Y. That will land you 680 SCs - mate you clearly don't know what you are doing...

Chirag72 can I strongly and respectfully suggest you just buy lounge access when you need it? Are you sure that travelling for no reason other than 680 status credits is worth it? I can only think that you want lounge access OR need to feel important... please don't think platinum makes you a better person. Just buy lounge access for crying out loud, it's cheaper than all those useless flights you're about to take...

I am a year late, but I received 560 status credits (not during double status promotion) for a short jaunt to Malaysia for $2700. Sydney-Melbourne-Denpasar-KL-KK and back. Much cheaper than Europe.
