For reasons best not gone into, I have to make a transit next week at Sydney for a flight through to Taipei. I can check hold luggage at Melbourne, but have (assuming flights to schedule) 1hr 45mins between landing at the Domestic Qantas Terminal at Sydney and getting across to the International Terminal (I'm flying Qantas MEL > SYD then China Airlines SYD > TPE, all on the same ticket, before anyone asks!). Any thoughts / tips very welcome. I am assuming the train is likely to be the least painful way to achieve this?
There is a free transit bus that departs from Gate 15 that you should be able to use (This is assuming your trip was ticketed by Qantas, but it might be okay on a China Airlines ticket due to their codeshare arrangement) It departs every 10 - 20 minutes and it doesn't take too long to get you across to the the international terminal where you'll have to clear security etc etc...
You will be able to use the Qantas transfer bus as i did for my CI flight last week. Just have your onward flight info handy as they will check it. Rules for transfer bus :
The Transfer Lounge is located airside (after passing through the security check point), at Gate 15 in T3. A shuttle bus service is available to passengers that are travelling or have travelled on a Qantas flight (including codeshare flights) or oneworld flight. The shuttle buses operate every 10-20 minutes from 6am to 9.40pm AEST. On arrival at T1 proceed up the escalator, through immigration and security to your departure gate.

Thanks for that. Trip is ticketed by CI, hadn’t thought of the shuttle but makes sense I think.
