Qantas lounge dress code at international lounges?

I am flying out ex Syd on Fiji Airways J next week to the US. I have a 6 hour layover and plan on using the QF J lounge in T1. Generally an Etihad flyer, I am accustomed to wearing a fashionable blend of Adidas, Under Armour and thongs into lounges inc the First Class lounge whether booked in Y, J or F.

I think heading in with shoes on would be a safer bet, though it would appear that swapping your shoes for thongs once inside may work based on what I’ve heard...

best to just have a comfy clothes (like PJ's) in your carry on and wear nicer clothes into the airport and the lounge

I think PJs and flip flops despite what they are now euphemistically called called: 'sleep suits' or 'under armour', are still a big no-no.

As you read on the website, the dress code applies only to domestic lounges, not international.

I have to agree with freshthoughts. You're flying J - what's wrong with dressing well? It's hardly an athletic journey.

AJW you don't speak on my behalf! I don't want to see people's bare midriffs, muffin tops, or dirty feet when I'm in the lounge. It turns me off my food. And besides it doesn't cost a lot of money these days to look presentable and be respectful.

i normally wear kmart tracksuits however with the qantas lounge i don my myer tracksuit

Transiting through DXB with QF in the past, it was always quite telling while in the F lounge at DXB....you could spot the Aussie travellers a mile away dressed like they were going on a Himalayan trek. This was compared to the generally smart/sophisticated dress of locals and other international travellers. QF offer PJ's in J and F thus not sure why some premium pax still choose to dress with little class at times. Thongs/PJ's/track suits for adults esp are just plain bogan in my opinion.

I sent this feed to one of my friends today, she replied siding with the majority stating "comfort dressing is the downfall of society".

Dressing nicely makes me feel like I'm being respectful to the airline and it's staff, as they are usually impeccably dressed, and provide us quality surrounds, food and drinks. You know this old chestnut. "Sometimes you can take the bogan out of economy, but you can't take economy out of the bogan."

If in say the Perth QC then athletic wear is fine. Personally I try and dress appropriately, chino's, shirt, shoes (occasionally the RM Williams) knowing that I'll be going through typically the Qantas Lounges at SIN, LHR, HK, LAX. London is a very nice lounge with the gin bar and so and you don't really want to go in there looking daggy. HK is superb of course and having access to the CX lounges means you would stand out like a sore thumb if in the Pier, Wing or Bridge compared to immaculately dressed Asian travellers. Same applies to DXB.
