What QF option would be my best option for snaring a points bid upgrade from Economy to Business out of SIN back to AUS in late August? Don’t really mind where we arrive into AUS (thanks to QF’s decision to treat us South Australians as the poor cousins and deny us direct flights internationally to anywhere!) I’m only a lowly Bronze FF so I know what I’m up against, so I guess it comes down to what would have the best availability/lowest load on a Monday or Tuesday....QF2/36/38/82? Thanks in advance...

Neither of those flights probably Perth on QF72 as the flight has only just been changed back to a A330 and may have lots of j available as previous available and sold J was for a 737.

Are the A330-200’s out of PER refurbished ones? Don’t feel like spending my points on Skybed Mk1

Agree about Perth being the best option. Sydney is always full but with a second A380 (if on those days) there may be a chance. Avoid the A380 from London. The A380 to Melbourne may also have space. If not business you have the option of PE is there as well.

Note the Perth A330 consolidates 2 737s so may be a drop in overall capacity

You could try searching on ExpertFlyer. That will usually show you if there is any availability at all. Invariably it is very little to none.

Yes business suite. And you have the benefit of not back tracking from the east.

I successfully upgraded on qf38 to Melb mid-week last week as a Silver qff. There was 4 seats free the day prior (according to Expert Flyer) and I was lucky enough... So it's def possible.

Having said that though I agree I'd try for one of A380 flights... More overall seats and the option of PE as a fallback.

I upgraded even on an upgrade bid last May from MEL-SIN last May. On the way back to Aus I didn't upgrade as I was PE and was good enough for me, but noticed that they even had space for aircrew to be upgraded from PE to J.

A380 to MEL (QF36) is a pretty good option as I'm assuming that QF2 may be busier, although the J product is not as good as on the refurbished A330s. In saying that, the A380 has more seats, so easier to score an upgrade.
