I got an itinerary with several sections. I wonder if and how I could quote my velocity and Etihad ff numbers for different sections. It is confirmed impossible to change it online or call va (marketing) for help as only one could be quoted for the entire trip. Is it still doable to change it at va checkin or lounge counter?
You can usually change it at check-in, the service desk, the lounge or even at the boarding gate (although the gate agent may not be too happy about it as they have lots of other things to do). If your boarding pass for that onward flight was already printed, just make sure they reprint your boarding pass to show your new frequent flyer number, because it's embedded into the barcode, and scanning the older boarding pass (with the wrong frequent flyer number) could trigger the points to be credited to the wrong account.

Thank you Chris. I will do at the lounge counter (I suppose checkin counter maybe also very busy) to make sure the staff at the boarding gate scan the barcode with right ff information.
Could this be done without any FF number on the booking but applied by retroactive claim?
Technically yes, but if your status entitles you to any benefits (e.g. extra baggage allowance), it usually has to be in the system for those benefits to 'work' as such.

Generally doable at check-in if the agent knows how (although won't always stick).

Great point, i forgot about that. Extra baggage etc would still apply if you were flying business or first for status pax.
