Due to a family emergency I'm on a round-trip to Wellington this weekend,
A friend has offered me their guest pass into the lounge, but I'm wondering if it's actually worth it, or would it be a waste?
I always like a lounge, I'm often found in Koru lounges, and I never want to look a gift horse in the mouth, but if it's just cold sandwich fillings and fountain drink, I'd probably tell my friend to save it for a better opportunity.
I've used this lounge a number of times in recent years. It's not obviously as large as the lounges you may have in Australian capital cities - but it is relatively comfortable, has some natural lighting overlooking the aircraft parking bay, and all of the usual amenities you would expect to see in a small Qantas Club lounge. There's a reasonable selection of beverages although the food area is quite small you will nevertheless find some light meal options such as sandwiches, salads, fruit, the odd hot item etc. Coffee is served from a machine - there's no dedicated barista. There's also a fridge stocked with small NZ ice-creams (probably the best part!). As with most Qantas lounges it can get quite busy as the SYD/MEL flights near departure. I don't 'think' AusBT has reviewed this lounge (the team can correct me) - but if you google 'Wellington Qantas lounge review' you should find a few reviews with lots of pictures. Hope everything works out well regarding the nature of the trip, Yvan.
Per wdeguara's comments - its comfortable and better than the terminal. Unless its been updated in the past year its not particularly comfortable if you want to work on a laptop as the tables are quite small.
It could do with some work benches per what they've got in the Brisbane international lounge or the domestic business lounge.
