Hi all, I'm travelling to LA via VA1 on 1st August, and returning on VA 2 on 31st August.
I originally upgraded myself from Economy X to Premium Economy on VA1, but I'm still on Economy X on VA 2 as my fare class doesn't allow points upgrades (long story, but there was a system issue on the VA 1 flight that allowed me to upgrade my fare class).
I was wondering if there's any possibility Virgin would upgrade me from Premium to Business on the VA1 flight when checking in? My thought process is that it's worth asking as they can only say no.
you can ask, I've had Op ups before but usually because they think they owe me, I'm not hearing any special reasons why they would give you this upgrade so highly unlikely.
Can you use more points to request an upgrade from premium economy to business, what status do you have?

Don't forget to try for on departure upgrade with points at checkin.

Highly unlikely I suspect. They are more likely to upgrade a PE paying guest with Gold or Platinum status first.

Highly unlikely, Virgin didn't upgrade me on that flight once, and they had 5 business class seats spare. I am platinum too.
