I'm booking a flight for my mother to head out to DXB at Christmas. I'm tempted by the substantial difference fare between QF/EK at circa $8k vs BI at $4-5k.
I've flown EK and QF etc J and F class on various routes and appreciate all of the extras but keen to hear if anyone has taken a long haul in J on BI?
Flown them a few times. Very solid product (in all classes). Brunei airport is a horrible place though. Lounge access makes it a bit more bearable, but only by so much. Food is great, service very good.
Regarding being dry, I have read that if you bring your own drinks they will serve them to you, however can't confirm this.
Only thing to watch with that is the bottle size, remembering that you'll go through security again in transit and anything >100mL will be confiscated (not sure if they honour tamper-proof sealed duty-free bags, but assuming you've opened one for your outbound flight, it would no longer be sealed). No duty-free alcohol is sold at the airport in Brunei, so the best approach would probably be to bring along a couple of those minibar-sized spirit bottles in your onboard liquid bag which would be OK at security screening in transit (and not too heavy or bulky to carry).

Or poor out your Dom Perignon into 7 * 100ml containers and place them in a zip locked see through bag!
The 787 J is fine - obviously not as good as EK A380 - but for half the price, its worth the saving.
