Interesting I’m QF platinum and would never expect a free upgrade, would like it if it happened though. Having said that since I’ve been QF platinum I’ve been upgraded twice on AA, twice on CX from economy to PE and once on China southern when i was on a QF codeshare.
I find it interesting that these other carriers give me perks as platinum which QF don’t. Maybe they are trying to poach me haha, would be interested to hear people’s thoughts as this has been my experience.
I think it’s hard seeing people travelling on staff travel (which also includes family members) treated better by qantas then the paying passengers. There has a been a large swing away from customer service in the last few years. It would be good for qantas to remember that exists for its customers and not its own self.
If you’re expecting operational bump up’s due to status, then you need a big reality check. Unless you are an exceptionally high value customer (this does not mean Platinum), then you are being unrealistic.
If you want an upgrade, either pay for it with points or cold hard cash.
Just because a seat is free doesn’t mean you should have it.
