Has anyone used the Swiss (or Lufthansa) codeshare out of Australia on Cathay in business? Interested in lounge access when leaving Aust from Melbourne and returning from HK on a Cathay flight with a Swiss flight number in business class.
Not sure star alliance lounges can be used as they are based on the metal flown? Can the CX lounge be used if you have an LX flight number. Does anyone have any experience of this? Thanks
That's incorrect - Oneworld rules require a Oneworld marketing code on a Oneworld operated flight for Oneworld lounge access, not just a Oneworld-operated flight.
However, as Cathay Pacific operates its own lounges in Melbourne and Hong Kong, I suspect you'd have access there in line with CX's codeshare rules, but ask at check-in.
Answer they came back with following some investigation, “Irespective of flight numbers you are still a Cathay business class passenger and you have access to the lounge.”
I wouldn't say that suggests Cathay lounge only... I'd say it suggests whatever lounge Cathay uses at that airport.
Agreed - the Cathay lounge at Melbourne in this case, or the Cathay lounges in HK. In the case of Melbourne, it may not provide access to any potentially better oneworld lounges. Cheers

Lounge access depends on the operating carrier, not on the marketing one.
If your flight is operated by Cathay Pacific, you are welcome to Cathay/Qantas/Oneworld lounges, regardless of what your ticket says.

You cannot access Oneworld lounges as it is not Oneworld marketed

You won't be welcome at the Qantas lounges.

Next onward flight that day must be on a oneworld operated and marketed flight.
