Hi to all my collegues. I am wondering if anyone could offer some advice. I am thinking about going to the SEMA car show in Vagas later this month, but as I am currently on leave from work until Jan 2019 I was thinking about buying a world ticket and having a look around while I have the opportunity. I have about 500,000 QFF points which is ample to even do business class all the way. I am not sure how to get the “best bang for my buck” with my points or really where I would like to go. I would prefer warmer climates as I live in a cold place in Victoria Australia. Not really interested in London. Have done some small parts of Europe and it is expensive for accommodation etc. Maybe, Vietnam but not sure where else would make a great itinerary. I have also heard that Finnair put on a good business class show. Would anyone be able to offer some advice who may have been in a similar situation. Any comments would be appreciated. Regards Rossco
It won't be easy finding business class award seats for January. Where you end up flying to and who with may not be your choice and might be dependent entirely on which routes has award seats available.
I would suggest visiting Africa and select Asian countries as they are not too cold and New Zealand is probably one of the warmer ones when visiting in the beginning of the year. Oneworld awards could be few and far between in Jan. Definitely suggest flying business to and from HK or other oneworld hubs (Japan, Finland, Qatar) if your into trying new airlines and lounges at new airports.
With 500K points you could even redeem for a first class RTW trip though will have to experience some business class because of the lack of first products.
I find this guide helpful in addition to the AusBT guide above though most routes go through London, it gives you an idea of the kind of destinations you can go to.
I just got back from on of these trips and it was great. Finnair is a great option that had loads of availability, and I thoroughly recommend Helsinki as a stopover option.
Your toughest J availability is always the flights in and out of Australia, so i'd suggest nailing those first, and then build your trip around that. Also, BA business class is the least desirable of the One World airlines, IMO, avoid them if you can.
Have a great trip, it'll be damned hard to go back down the back afterwards!
I used to fly frequently in the past and had enough points for 2 x RTW First Class FF tickets every year. As jace74 said re availablitly, what we found was to get the RTW starting somewhere else, usually Tokyo which was easier to get the OW flights from as a base point and used points or a cheap price to get to Tokyo as a separate ticket. (Spent New Years Day in Tokyo for a few years!) Just a tip if it makes it easier.
Hi jace74 we are currently viewing a Finnair special fare for Business RTW. Can you recommend flying with Finnair? Also did you do your own booking or through an agent. Thanks!

Hoi An is a good spot for getting hand made clothes and shoes. Sunshine Hotel in particular, windows on all bedrooms and a restaurant across the road
