JAL PE is excellent. Have used it on 777-300ER and about to try it out on 787 LHR to HND. JAL treat PE as a kind of Business minus class so you get to use Lounges too, baggage gets Priority tags. Food good too and very attentive service.

Can't speak highly enough of Turkish Airlines J ex Asia. Cathay Pacific J is also right up there.

United's PE sucks (although I've heard they're doing a massive overhaul) however their Polaris Class (business) is essentially first class - quite comfy
Air Canada's business class window seats on 787 are quite good as well since they do 1-2-1

Yes, Air NZ PE seats and service would be hard to beat - I do NZ87/NZ80 (777-200)regularly and I flew NZ87 last night AKL-HKG and slept 7 hours (11 hour flight) and even missed the meal/drink service until breakfast. Seats are well padded and offers a great sleep. I have done the CX (350 aircraft) on same routing - seats are ok but service is econ service whereas Air NZ almost shares with J class.

I flew JAL PE MEL-NRT return this year and liked it enough to book again for next year (especially since it includes lounge access). I usually can only sleep in a lie flat seat but I was able to get half asleep in their W seat for around 6hours. It has 42inch pitch if that helps.
i agree have flown twice this year MEL_NRT_HEL and one more to go. JL connects to European destinations with AY Economy, which is tolerable but better starting than finishing!! Seats good (hard shell so no problems with passenger in front) food interesting etc. I'm QF Platinum so didn't need to worry re lounge. All round good experience.

I have just recently flown with Lufthansa business class and the seats are not comfortable. Qantas, Emirates,Swiss and Singapore business all very good. My two favourite are Emirates and Singapore for comfort, service and food.

I flew Qantas PE earlier this year PER - LHR and I have never had such a sore back before. It took me days to recover.

If flying PE from Europe look for Austrian PE Fares from selected European Cities around US$640 Return. But only selected destinations and usually only 4 seats a flight.
