There wouldn't be the demand to justify a 787 on ADL-SIN.
As previously mentioned QF are likely pondering a 737(MAX) and/or considering convert their A321neoLR orders from JQ to QF mainline which is the right-sized plane for the ADL-SIN route.

Could potentially be a market for Boeing's new Middle of the Market "797" here too.

Mjkcan: There are actually many International flights from Edmonton, Winnipeg and Quebec City. Mainly to US but also Europe particularly Germany and UK. Even smaller cities like Whitehorse have flights to Europe (Condor 767 to Germany)

ADL is a relatively low yielding market (i.e. proportion of business class long haul seats sold out of there is much lower than other state capitals). This is one reason there is no Qantas Business Lounge here, but there is in SYD, MEL, BNE, PER and CBR. HBA is similar.

Why whinge about an airline that has chosen to abandon ADL to others? Alternatives exist that offer a superior and often cheaper service. B737 to SIN?! No thanks. Ild choose a wide bodied aircraft in preference anyway.

The issue is the cost if basing planes and crew there. It is easier for a flight to start from somewhere else and turnaround and head back, than it is to start from somewhere. ADL is too small to base A330s and the 737 doesn’t have the range. New 737s or A320/1 neos May change that. The same applies to Canberra and even Perth to a lesser extent.
