Anyone on the QF2 LHR SIN? Flight Scheduled to depart at 2115. Boarding commenced at 2030 but aircraft had not been refuelled yet. Excuse after excuse. Despite flight time of 12.5 hours, time is 2227 and just started taxiing to the runway. Why would they board the flight if it hadn't been refuelled yet? Could have done with another hour in the gorgeous Qantas London Lounge. Not happy.
Maybe the refuelers were running late. This is beyond Qantas’s control. By having all passengers on board, they could leave as soon as they were able. Had they waited until refuelling had been completed, they would have had an even later departure time. One theory.
London Heathrow has an 11pm curfew. Most likely boarded passengers to ensure they could depart in time. Possible also this was additional fuel not full refuelling , due tochange in planned route. Eurocontrol may have required an ammended route or weather in Singapore changed requiring new altenate and additional holding fuel.
Grasshopper, think not of your departure time, but of the time of arrival at your destination, even then, think of your safe arrival and the joy of your family in that.

Most times I board an A380 in Sydney they are refuelling it and ask we keep seatbelts unfastened because of that so that is common. I think they don’t want people running around outside doing other things during refueling. Seems most often occurs on the 380. The late departure is based on landing time. Getting a landing slot or gate if you are early is often a problem.I have sat at DFW waiting 20mins for a gate because we were 20mins early. So rather than slow down on the flight they leave a little later if there is a take off slot which late at night in Singapore there often is.

It's pretty common to refuel while boarding passengers.

Wasn't a huge complaint. Very Annoying at the time!
