Hi, does anyone know if the complimentary Diamond level in Hilton Honours, via Velocity Platinum, auto renews if you retain Velocity Platinum for another year?

Nope, the boost to Diamond is one-off.

It’s a shame this doesn’t even have a status challenge component to retain Hilton Diamond status after that Platinum gratis status expires, but alas, you have to go the whole nine yards.

No It does not renew. But, if you drop down to Gold (if you didn't manage to requalify for platinum for example), you will receive complimentary Gold, and then when you qualify for platinum once again (the hard way since you dropped to gold the previous year), you will have the Diamond offer once again for one year.

This takes forever to come through when you first apply. I applied in late July just before my Platinum ran out and I dropped back to gold. I got the confirmation email from Hilton about 3 weeks ago.

One trick to this is try and avoid registering for Diamond until January if you can. If you register in January you will have Diamond until March 2021. If you registered now it would only be until March 2020.

That's no longer the case: you can only opt-in for each status (Gold and Diamond) once, even if you drop and re-gain your earlier tier. It used to be that if your Velocity tier changed, you could always opt-in to the hotel status attached to that tier, but no more.

Of course, if you've previously chosen Hilton Gold and subsequently become Velocity Platinum, you can still get Hilton Diamond, as it's once per option (once as Velocity Gold, and once as Velocity Platinum).

Thanks everyone, very helpful. As that's the case it looks like I'll be staying at Accor Hotels moving forward!

I realise this is a bit late but wanted to confirm that I nominated my son for my partner platinum card and even though he had Hilton Diamond via this 2 years ago, he received it again this time as he had dropped to Gold.

We have used it a lot on a recent trip, so it is the case you can get it again if you drop below Platinum and requalify
