Talks have been successful and the 3-day strike planned from December 21 has been called off. The two unions concerned, AMEA and E Tu, have got what they wanted. Unfortunately, it's reported that quite a number of people have already paid penalties to change their Air NZ flights rather than get mixed up in what might have happened or have booked an alternative ticket with other carriers. Christmas for all those people may not be quite as merry.
I got scared and cancelled my SQ flight MEL - WLG, penalised Aud$200 from Aud$700 odd for J, and cancelled my Air NZ dom flight WLG - AKL, and premY AKL - ADL, not sure how much refund that AirNZ one will be though.
Grr, not a happy poochie.
Now have to rebook for Oct 2019 for the same trip, at least the strike is very unlikely to ever happen again.
