Cathay Pacific concluded a promotion in Vietnam December 31, 2018 which inadvertently saw J Class return tickets from Vietnam to Vancouver, Canada and the East Coast of the USA - valued at USD $16,000 - for USD $675. However, round trip business tickets to Los Angeles were sold from $US2,940.
The airline has confirmed this morning that the pricing error will be honoured for travel. Oops.
Did any savvy AUSBT readers happen to score one of these bargains for next August?

Hats off to them for honouring the tickets. Not unheard of to see tickets issued under mistake fares like these cancelled and refunded by the airlines.

A couple of years ago VA had some kind of glitch in their system and was pricing I (business sale fares) as T (Econ Sale Fares). A return trip to NYC in business was $1300. They found the glitch around midday and instantly said all tickets issued would not be honored. About 2 hours later they back flipped and said they would honor them. It was a great day

This has got to be one of the cheapest status runs ever.

I guess we'll have to wait until August to find that out? CX initially stated that the fares wouldn't be honoured, but had a re-think on that today (excellent PR, as @tomJ states), but there has been no mention of at what rates status credits and mileage will be awarded. Hence, there may be some disappointed / delighted August passengers - although, how could you be disappointed with a bargain business fare like that? :-)

Many think its just CX publicity - like the wrong spelling of their name on repainting?

I bought 2 J class SYD-CGK*DPS-SYD just before Christmas A$1,000 each for travel 7 May, ticket issued, no questions, just afterwards the ticket went back to about A$1800 each.
