Hi all, in a bit of a pickle at the moment with my gold status, as my review date for achieving 400 status credits is on the 19th of Jan, but my employer booked me in SQ P on the 22nd, and my current balance is 364. I called the membership contact centre and discussed my options, and (politely) asked whether my review date could be moved forward a few days. The agent responded by stating I would have to pay 60,000 VFF points, or lose my status completely. I explained that I have been a gold member for 3 years, with no avail.
I was wondering if any of you have any experience with this, and whether paying 60,000 points is considered a good value, or if there is anything else I can do. Thanks!
Value is very subjective, personally I would not pay 60,000 points to maintain Gold. Have you considered booking a status run? Brisbane to Melbourne (return) Elevate fare will give you 40 status points.
Also, I would try calling back and getting a different agent.

Unfortunately I cannot go on a status run, as I am overseas and return from my trip that would help me cross the line on the 22nd.
Is there anything in particular I should ask the agent? Because the agent I spoke to seemed adamant that the only way to maintain status was the points.
Try calling again and see if you can speak to someone else. I spoke to one for my wife’s Platinum membership and she was given a once off extension for a year. I had to give the record locator for the return European fares in J with SQ to show future flying.

You wouldn't lose your status completely, you would drop back to silver. If the agent told you that then the agent really didn't know what's going on.
Even if you drop back, unless you lose status credits (that have a 12 month life), once you complete your next flight you'll gain the SC's and kick back up to Gold anyway.
Would I spend 60K to maintain Gold? Depends on how much traveling I had over the next status year. If I had lots, then I would want access to the lounges and shorter queues. If I had little travel, then probably not.
I agree, call back, ask to speak to a manager. If they still say no, write to the head of loyalty. That's ridiculous. VA are like this at times, just dogmatic and rule based. Just dumb and I'm sure their leadership wouldn't want to see loyal FFs being needlessly upset. Showing some flexibility is what loyalty is all about.
