Just wondering if anyone knows if Hawaiian Airlines will ever fly direct to Honolulu ex Melbourne? We've done a few family trips lately and the transit via Sydney is awful especial on the return leg.
I know Jetstar does but I refuse to fly with them due to the countless flight cancelations I had with them.
Hawaiian are planning to fly here, it showed on their map of future destinations they released once on their Instagram. But it’ll probably only be once they receive the 787 and some aircraft are freed up

It did say that but I think Hawaiian have other destinations they want to pursue first but.

Yeah Melbourne isn’t a priority so probably somewhere between 2022-2025 we should see some announcement of either Melbourne or other routes. I think Perth is also being considered.

I was in the same dilema as the Sydney then rush to get your bags and board a Mel flight is a pain.. I ended up with booking business in Jetstar to Mel. Would have gone Qantas or Hawaiian if they had a direct option..
Some how I’m a little excited to try a value based Jetstar business. Should be better the the Hawaiian air economy I did a couple of years back.
Flown QF HNL-SYD-MEL, didn't find it to be as rushed or hectic. We landed about 5pm and caught the 7 30pm flight, we even had some lounge time. By the time we were home (post 10pm) we were ready to sleep which really helped us with jetlag!
Didn't fly MEL-SYD-HNL but the arrival time seemed atrocious
I’d probably expect more consolidation in HNL market going forward than expansion. Jetstar have fares $189 today and QF and HA have Economy for $700. Business was about $2k last week.
I would love to see a Mel-Hnl direct on Qantas even just twice week on the days that the flights don't go from Syd. I have taken the Air NZ option and found it a great alternative to Jetstar or via Syd on QF

Have you considered Air New Zealand via Auckland or Fiji Airways via Nadi? Both airports offer much easier transit than Sydney
