Any comments please on what KLIA is like to transit through
I'm travelling Colombo to Taipei as part of a Status credit run

It's ok. It's better than transitting through Colombo or Taipei.

Simple procedure. Just follow the signs. No ultra long lines here!

I find KLIA one of the easiest international airports to transit through. You may have to take the train between terminals but this is also very simple and easy.

Assume you are flying MH and transiting KLIA (not KLIA2).

If so it's a single level airport (like Singapore), so very easy if you have through checked luggage and a boarding pass.

As KLIA2 is for LCCs, it's probably not part of the OP's "status run"?

In which case KLIA, with HLO, is about the easiest transit you can ever ever make. Even easier than Singapore.

With checked luggage it's the same, as long as you can get it through-checked.

Correct , looking at either UL or MH from CMB to KLIA then MH to Tpe

I have a long 13 hour layover on the back due to a much cheaper Ticket , is it worth going to the transit Hotel or best just to stat in the Lounge please?
