Hi There,
Has anyone done a Bid-up months in advance with HA ?.
Just wondering will I still have to wait until 26 hours before the flight for confirmation of success ?

The confirmation period should be the same so yes your bid will still be considered up to 24 hours before departure. Your bid won't be considered before hand.

It can be worth it on long international flights, depending on the price: although if it's just a short inter-island flight within Hawaii, paid first class tickets often represent great value when you book them outright.
I was looking into this recently, and on flights where entry-level economy was around A$160, first class was around A$210. Given that regular economy includes no checked bags, for which you have to pay US$25 (about A$35) for just one bag, and first class includes two free bags, plus priority check-in, boarding and HA lounge access (where available), for essentially A$15 more - assuming you have a checked bag - it's terrific value, not to mention the business class status credits if crediting to Velocity!
(Unfortunately, the price difference is much wider on international flights, which is where the upgrade bid comes in handy.)

Yeah I have booked First class @$162AUD per person on my inter island OGG-HNL, as you mention is a good deal, when considering luggage.
