Just wondering about flying virgin out of Hobart , researching online it seems there is no lounge option. I was wondering do they give you a food voucher for a cafe or it's just tough luck?

And I suppose pondering if there is a different treatment of a passenger with Platinum status in economy vs one flying in business

Thanks

There's no lounge in Hobart (yet), and unfortunately, there are no other arrangements such as food vouchers.

I fly out of Launceston a lot, and from personal experience, there's virtually no difference in treatment as a Platinum member whether flying in economy or business, either on the ground or onboard, apart from the hot meal service in business class.

Priority check-in/boarding/luggage works equally well whether you fly economy or business.

With Hobart Airport announcing redevelopment plans this week that included space for two airline lounges, Virgin Australia would finally be able to have those discussions with Hobart Airport if it were still interested (as I understand, the current limitation has been the lack of space in the current terminal).

We have nothing to report on that front, but if or when there's anything to announce, you'll certainly read about it on AusBT.

I also fly out of Launceston a lot and skip the Qantas Club because the airport terminal itself is better appointed and enjoyable space.

I spent a year flying out of Hobart, no special treatment for Virgin flyers. The terminal itself is more acceptable for a semi regional airport.

Hobart Airport would do well to replicate the Launceston terminal, it's a much better passenger experience.
