Just a quick question to those in the know. I am about to book a return trip MEL-BNE in business class with Qantas one way, Virgin the other. From your experience, is there a better leg to select with a particular carrier because of better lounges and other features etc?
Well, I reckon the Virgin Australia lounge is best in Melbourne, and it's one of the best domestic lounges I've seen in the world. The Brisbane lounge is comparatively underwhelming -- it's smaller, and has car park views.
I'm with Chris - Virgin's Melbourne lounge is currently its best, so I'd consider MEL-BNE with Virgin ans the return leg with Qantas... Although I'm a bit curious as to why you're splitting the trip over two airlines - is this for reasons of price, or sampling two lounges, onward connections or some other reason?

Thanks for the info.
@David, I have points to burn with both Virgin & Qantas and am yet to try Virgin business class.
