Flights were VA to LAX then Delta from LAX, so no AC. I realise it's the "game" but for weeks there has been plenty of availability across many days int he week, but suddenly just as we are approaching having the dates I want available, everything has gone! VA isn’t suppose to be generous anyway. Never seen any J seats to LAX more than 7 days out.

I've found early Feb is the easiest time to grab a business class reward on VA. Note that your seat assignment may well be moved for a paying biz customer on that flight. I've been moved back when booked on points and also moved up (without asking) when paid.
