I am wondering if there is a separate business check in area at Tom Bradley. We will be arriving to Terminal 2 from Vancouver and catching the shuttle to Terminal B. Flying Qantas to Melbourne. Thanks

Yes, there is a clearly marked Business Class check-in counter at the TBIT.

I would save the hassle of the shuttle bus and take the 5-minute walk from Terminal 2 to TBIT - unless of course you have lots of bags or are infirm. There are plenty of baggage trolleys available.

Happy flying!

If you arrive from Vancouver you'll have gone through US pre-clearance and won't have to clear immigration/customs when you arrive into Terminal 2. If your bags are checked through you can remain post-security and get the airside shuttle to TBIT.

Yes if you go landslide take the 5 minute walk, enjoyable after a flight.

Affirmative. The buses are all Delta-branded etc but it doesn't matter which airline you're flying with as you don't need to present a boarding pass, only to say which terminal you're heading to.

I've done a similar thing at LAX when connecting to Qantas (albeit with only carry-on baggage) - arrived on a Delta domestic flight in T2, took the airside bus over to TBIT (to avoid clearing security again), and completed check-in at the reception desk of the Qantas lounge for a flight to Melbourne with no problems at all. If your bag is tagged through from Vancouver, you'd be able to do the same if you don't have your onward Qantas boarding pass: and if you do, well, that's even easier as you're already set!

Clearing security can be a hassle at TBIT so I’d recommend the airside transfer if you’re all set with luggage/ passes.

However I assume you’re not, otherwise you wouldn’t be landing at T2, so:

Walk off the plane and head towards baggage claim. When you get funnelled down a weird escalator that feels like you’re leaving the space time continuum, you’re in the right place.

Get your bags. Exit and turn right.

Walk along the sidewalk (you’ll be on the lower level / arrivals until the road bends left (you’ll pass t3 arrivals in the process, about 5 minutes.)

You’ll see outdoor escalators going up, take them.

Voila. You’re at TBIT. There’s a business check in there.

You’re better off walking along the lower level and then going up as opposed to vice versa - the upper level tends to have a lot of crowds in the space between t3 and TBIT, usually ubers and local LA people with insane amounts of luggage loading up to bring things back to their families overseas. Best to avoid this crowded spot!

Also avoid any landside transfers - it’s literally faster to walk and it’s not far.

To make the advice even more useful e.g. for a round trip, does anyone have helpful suggestions about the other direction, i.e. arriving at TBIT from Australia and transferring to T2 for a flight to Vancouver. Is it possible to stay on the airside?

No.

You have to clear US customs, physically pick up your bag and then exit the baggage claim area and then a) drop it off at the transfer desk if it’s “checked through” from Australia or b) walk your bags to T2 in the reverse of the way I mentioned above, and clear security +/- check-in there.

You’re walking either way, it’s just whether or not you have bags. There is a landside inter-Terminál transfer bus but it goes in the wrong direction (TBIT —> T4 —> T5 etc before looping back around) - so just walk. It’s nice.

I know it is a little bit off topic, but I will be transfering through LAX as well, I will be on an Air Canada flight coming in (Terminal 6) and going out on Fiji Airways (TBIT), could I do the land side transfer with just carry on as some of the posters above have suggested? Is an electronic boarding pass (i.e. mobile check-in) sufficient for the FJ flight if anyone knows?
