Good news about HK. I was told by officials it’s the Australian government that insists on a secondary screening in BKK and Manila. Does anyone know why? SIN do checks before you board the plane.
I think it’s because the Australian government doesn’t think the security screening at those airports is good enough. That’s what I read on one of the frequent flyer forums when trying to find out about the current situation at HKG and BKK. If that’s true then why is it only liquids they are checking when doing the secondary screening? Maybe they think you can buy dangerous liquids past the main security at those airports??

SIN has nothing to do with this...they do the main security scanning at each gate, not secondary
Just flown Jakarta/Sydney on QF and there was secondary screening prior to boarding at Jakarta airport. It was a general security check of all carry-on bags, they didn't seem particularly interested in liquids.

As mentioned, no additional screening in HK but still at BKK - just flew on QF24 from BKK two days ago and bags were checked at the gate.
