I know none of us can predict the future - but given the current situation in the Gulf (news today of another drone shot down) and with Qatar's links to Iran and their use of flight corridor across Straits - I wondered if anyone was concerned enough to change their plans to fly with them at this time? I understand Emirates has followed the US airlines and Qantas in their re-routing. I didn't know where else to ask this question - hope not too silly. Cheers.

Not silly at all. I had the same concerns. Recently booked travel for later this year Germany to Singapore and Qatar Airways had an excellent price in business (with Q Suites on both legs). British Airways was the only other oneworld airline with a comparative price. Ended up booking BA to be safe. Maybe I’m an idiot?

Each to their own, and if you have concerns then best to investigate further. I'd have no qualms flying QR at the moment (and would absolutely fly them over BA). But if you're not comfortable, take another option.

Thanks @rwSydney - it's good to know I'm not the only one thinking along these lines. Friends flew with Cathay recently MEL-LHR to avoid all Middle Eastern airlines. I can see available BA rewards flights from SIN too. But I'd probably be ok with Emirates since I know they changed their routing in line with US etc which makes me feel that at least they were responsive (and I have enough points for First so that might be a buzz!)

If it’s an issue you could go north over the pole with QF / JAL thru Tokyo remembering that different ex Aus flights go to Hnd or Nrt. You could also use Finnair thru Hkg or Sin which would track further north.

A couple of weeks ago when I came back on the Qantas Perth flight there was a couple hour delay as the corridor through the ME is now narrower and the QF flight had to wait for a 'slot'. So a different route all together may make sense.
