I made a booking for a trip this year during a DSC promotion. I think I signed up for it before making my booking (which was done through a travel agent), but I don't recall (nor can I find) a confirmation email. Is there some way (or some where) I can check this in “manage my booking” or somewhere? I tried using the SMS service, who punted me back towards the FF team. I've swapped two emails with them....but then radio silence....

There is no confirmation but it does happen. This happens is few days and up to a couple of weeks after the trip. I just had some come through from a recent trip. The phrase ‘I think I signed up' is where you might come undone. Being through a travel agent doesn't matter. Make the trip and see what happens or a call to the FF centre will also help but that requires patience. Forget about SMS service...useless.

To begin with, you could try conducting a search of the email address that is connected to your QFF account. There has only been 1 non-targeted DSC promo this year, which was in Feb. There were 2 last year (the last one was in Nov from memory.) If you are travelling this year I would guess that the booking and subsequent promo reg email would have appeared sometime around then.

As for targetted (Usually P1 and Plat,) I'm not sure. You could try doing a search of approximate date range from the date you booked your flights.

I used the SMS service last night, was awful and took hours for a response which didn't even make sense (i think this is in part due to the happenings in HKG.)

When you ring Qantas, I have found that it can be a bit of a hit or miss situation, sometimes you reach a grumpy employee who probably can't stand their job, but you have equal chances of reaching someone knowledgeable, helpful, polite and enthusiastic.

Hope this helps.

There is a little known problem when booking a DSC trip with a travel agent, though it might not affect the OP.

Let's say you get a quote for a flight from a travel agent on 1st August, and a DSC offer appears on 3rd August, so you then tell the agent to book the flight. You won't get the DSCs, for the agent will have effectively booked the flight on 1st August and held it for you pending payment. Agents are able to book flights without payment and hold them for a week or two, as this enables them to provide customers with a quote that won't change.

I suggests you Google the DSCs offer and in the T&C you will find the dates you needed to book and travel within to make sure you are entitled to them. Call the FF call centre not email and get a reference numbers. When you book directly online with Qantas you get a confirmation email. Otherwise not. I have had to follow up a few times to get the double SCs I know it can be a hassle but worth it. I've talked to the FF call centre and heard stories of members trying to get double SCs without being eligible, they've heard it all. Thus checking T&Cs.

How about calling the Qantas Frequent Flyer team? You'll get an answer for sure.

If you've registered for the offer, you will always receive a confirmation email, saying you've registered. This is your only proof and is alway best to save and flag the email for future claims.

I recently did a trip to LA and it took me two emails to get the DSCs credited. They can take up to 8 weeks to reach your account as was the case for me on this trip. Other times they can appear automatically within a few days of travel.

Good luck!

Hi All fellow travellers, I was moved to address the good folk of the QFF service department to ask for a hint when the next DSC might occur. Join me in desperation as I sit on 1390 SC and my request of the second allocation of loyalty 50 lovelies went straight over the top of someone's head. Planning a trip to South America & the Antarctic via BA with our beloved airline before the end of my membership year, so I want to secure at least a year at P before indulging the kids with a trip to Greece ( shame I pay and I only get my flight's status credits) PS love the way these chats give all of use an opportunity to unload and avoid blowing a gasket, meanwhile still keeping Q viable financially. Should anyone know the boss personally, don't be shy in asking and sharing?

I did this morning, having also noted an aircraft swap that resulted in my wife and I being sat in different cabins (having retained our seat allocations in switching from an A330-300 to an A330-200 (and thank god the Skybed Mk1 is finally out of the loop!)) The FF Team confirmed I had registered and booked in time and met all the other criteria. They then politely suggested that I use the “call back” service from the regular Customer Service line - which I did, they called back within the nominated time frame (13 - 18 minutes), and it was all sorted in minutes.....! Great service as expected (and most usually received).

Thanks to everyone for their advice - but it would be good if those sort of notes could appear in your booking somehow....

Yes we are waiting too! Last year there was a DSC in late August or early September and we booked 2 overseas trips which were very nice. We are waiting on the DSC to come out soon, every morning I think ‘maybe today' ha ha. You should book Greece at the same time (at least your flights). The SMS is hopeless, I booked a trip for the family on points (on the phone) and it took 2 hours to get a name change for a grandchild that they put in wrong. Backwards and forwards quite a few times, but anyway it got done. Planning is half the fun isn't it???

There seems to be conflicting reports on confirmation emails. I didnt get one but a phone call to QFF assured me I was registered and that they dont send emails anymore?

The word on the Frequent Flyer blog is that QF now feels there are too many undeserving types (like me in platinum) corwidg lounges and extra more status bonus points; and delay booking flights until the 'window' opens that even though if gives a cash flow boost for then it overall may be counterproductive. Next year may be my last year at Platinum (three nice years) as I need to double for my regular confernce trips to the UK and US to score it.
