Since Cathay is experiencing a decline in forward bookings due to the current turmoil in Hong Kong, does anyone have any idea whether more award seats might be made available for redemption to fill up their planes?

Economy awards? Sure. Premium Economy? Why not. But business or first class? Not likely. Firstly, Oceania to Europe and other places are still big business. Combine that with many booking their business and first class mistake fares means that there are less seats than there could be. Plus, they have already reduced their frequencies limiting the amount of seats available.
Certainly unlikely from Dublin. Looks like the route has gone forever. With flight capacity also down about 20% From USA I can only see awards especially for OneWorld Partners getting more difficult in the Premium Cabins.
As the YOY passenger figure for August to/from HK from AU and NZ was an increase of 5.3% I would expect not.
Really? What is the source for this? I read in another forum that forward bookings for September (not just AU and NZ) were down 38% year on year. I don't have a source so it's possible of course the other forum is wrong.
The multiple sources for this information are best accessed via the published monthly figures on the CX web site and company postings to the HK companies regulator.
September is not of course going to be good for Cathay for obvious reasons but NZ/AU should hold up better than some routes.
Quotes above re Cathay business being anything approaching 38% down overall are just not correct.
BTW the Dublin route has not 'gone forever' but is now seasonal.
