Flying Y class HKG to BKK on CX in a few monthsâ time, QFF Platinum. I have been reading about the MTR station check-in and plan to do this as I have to check out of the Hotel in the morning and my flight is not until 17.30 My question - as boarding passes are issued at the station, can I head for the airport earlier than the normal 3 hours before the flight and spend 4-5 hours (Theoretically many more) sampling all of the Oneworld first lounges? or is there something in place to prevent this from occurring.

Absolutely you can, Steady - once you have the boarding pass you can rock up as early as you like. But you won't need that much time at Hong Kong airport to sample the oneworld First Class lounges as there are only two- QF and CX - and the Qantas one has little to commend it. I think you would find that two hours split between the CX first class lounge at The Wing (for a refresher in the cabana, if you can snare one) and maybe a visit to the adjoining business class lounge for the Noodle Bar would be all that you need, so you can spend some more time in HK itself.

Thanks, is the Qantas first lounge still lacking even after the makeover mentioned in your review - or did it get cancelled. The CX Wing lounge does seem the obvious choice

The makeover hasn't happened yet.

Qantas hasn't even started on the promised upgrade for the HKG First Class Lounge, and it seems it might not even happen at all because they are considering closing the first class lounge and creating an 'integrated' first & business like their new Singapore lounge.

There are three F Lounges
CX Wing First - recently renovated on the upper floor near entrance
CX Pier First - getting dated on a lower floor at high gates
QF First - upper floor near entrance (opp side to CX)

My bad! Moa999 is right, I forgot all about Cathay's other first class lounge, down the other end of the airport to The Wing! Yes, The Pier also counts, although it's a bit 'old' now and for my money not as appealing as the recently-refurbished The Wing First Class lounge, nor does it have the cabanas.

I agree David, The Wing is the lounge of choice in HKG.
