Yes. I managed to have a reward seat in business released for my to Santiago and there was also a sale going on. Whilst the customer service agent did the reward booking I worked in parallel and bought seats for my daughter and myself so the flights could all match up. The agent I had was outstanding and very helpful.
The service centre should be able to link tickets in cases like this otherwise they have to manage unaccompanied minors which isn't cheap and a hassle for them.
Its many years since I traveled with children but I just did a dummy booking for one adult and one child and it was a little cheaper for the child (under 12) - so I have learnt something today!

Is it possible to redeem 2 award seats (business) for adults using Qantas Points and then paying for a kids business fare on the same ticket?

Have you thought about paying for one of the adult tickets (and booking the child on points) so the adult get the status credits/ points?

Would it be cheaper to pay for a kids seat on business? I can't check the price because Qantas doesn't let me book unaccompanied minors online easily.
